Tony's Winter Pines Run

I got there early and found that people are getting even more lazy with their dumping. They didn’t even bother driving out of the carpark…it really is shameful how some people treat this place.

Anyway, we all met at Centre Way and Gnangara Road as usual. It was wet while we were gathering, but that was exactly what I was hoping for compared to the heat some 4 months earlier.

After the introductions and preamble, we aired down and headed off around 9:30, into a soppy Pines plantation. No photo as it was too wet – SORRY.

There was quite a bit of water on the ground, so the cars got their fair share of mud.

After a short drive we reached the first challenge, a hill that is quite soft in summer. While slightly

firmer in the wet, it was still good fun. Young Jack particularly enjoyed the jumping around the cars

did.

Following this, we proceeded to a mud play pit (just a pit in summer). We had some great fun here

getting the cars wet and muddy.

We then ventured to a sandpit just around the corner. While some had a play, Conor helped a

young guy (Jackson and his partner) in a Navara that had ended up with some water in a sensor.

As it was getting on, we headed off to the last sandpit, but as luck would have it, first Keith, then

Justin got stuck in a mud hole. The rest of us then back tracked to help/watch/advise on the

recovery.

While this was happening, I got another call from young Jackson, who had again broken down on the track. At this point Conor, Arthur, Jack, Kelvin and I took off to find Jackson to provide assistance.

Simon kindly led the rest of the group back to the exit point to air up and finish the trip.

I had a great day, and hope others did too – we finished around 12:30 to 1:00 ish.

Thanks to all who attended, Keith for being tail end Charlie, Di for most of the photos and Simon for leading part of the group out to the exit.

I was right to think it was going to be fun after some rains and am glad we did schedule this winter
