First - a big thank you to Don and Jane for running this trip in our place when our goldie had to have surgery.

Penny and Spence

Unexpected visitors as you pack up make arriving on time difficult so we arrived late at the bakery. Fortunately, Colin had introduced himself to Jim. Simon and Di arrived after work.

After settling into camp, we piled into 2 vehicles and meandered through Julimar passing by the area Hannah has chosen for practise recoveries. Much of the trip was grade 2 tracks with a few gnarly bits to keep it interesting. After the climb up from Heine Road we paused for afternoon tea. Parked on a narrow track we said, “No one will come past here.” Someone did! Two army trucks. We hastily cleared the track and they rumbled past with a wave.

Five o’clock nibbles were enjoyed when Di and Simon arrived at camp. Even the dogs had nibbles. It’s not quite the same without a fire.

Saturday morning arrived damp, Colin estimated that we had had about 5mls of rain overnight. However, the puddles quickly dried up. A small party set off to New Norcia and, having visited the inside on a previous trip, they followed the walking trail around the town. They found an old bee hive (a whole brick building) and the old well. The most notable feature were the flies that were in plague proportions.

The rest of the trip was spent chatting! And walking and chatting.

Apparently, there was a thick fog on Sunday morning but I slept through that. I didn’t need to get up for a dog.
