The Trip

This was a cruisy trip designed more to get away for a relaxing weekend in the bush than any serious driving.  As a bonus, Alan was running a Dwellingup Fenceline recce on the Saturday morning so people who craved a bit more adventure could attend that trip.  This counterbalanced the fact that 4 of us took our comfortable caravans instead of doing the right thing and roughing it in a tent or camper trailer.

We managed a couple of nice walks on Friday afternoon, then the weather on the Friday evening was pretty wet and we huddled under an awning.  Note that we are equipped with all the essentials.

Saturday morning Sean dropped in to set up his camper then headed off on Alan’s trip.  The rest of us visited the old POW camp close by.  It’s a fascinating look into the history of the area.

We then headed for Marrinup Falls which was running well after the rain.  It was a great little loop walk down to the falls. It was a bit muddy but since we have no photographic evidence the incident where a club member slipped over in the mud clearly did not happen.  The dogs enjoyed the walk and the falls as well.

We then carried on with a nice little drive which looped back up to the top of the power lines and then headed to Dwellingup for lunch at the pub.   Some of the group went on the 4K loop walk round Dwellingup which follows part of the heritage railway, and others headed back to camp for a relaxing afternoon.

Back in camp Sean returned from Alan’s recce, and Wayne and Colin called in to say Hi and describe what was obviously a great drive with some interesting challenges.

Saturday evening we did our, now traditional, pizza night.  Burgo and Sue supplied the pizza bases, everyone brought some toppings and we all shared the pizzas expertly prepared by Sue and Lucy and cooked by Burgo and Richard.  Sunday morning we headed back home.

The Dwellingup area is beautiful this time of year with the wild flowers out.  Thanks to everyone who attended for a lovely relaxing weekend.
