We headed out to Bob’s Track in Karridale for an evening run, planning to reach the beach in time to watch the sunset. Everyone met up and we rolled out at 6:45 pm, keen for a relaxed drive and some sand time with the kids.

Before starting, we all aired our tyres down to 20 psi and lined up the convoy. I led from the front and the track was going well—nothing too challenging to start with and a great run through the bush.

Partway down the track we came across a section with some decent wombat holes. I took it a bit too slow and ended up bellied out, with the tyres spinning. A quick push from the group got me moving again and we were straight back on our way - teamwork at its best.

We soon made it onto the beach, but found the sand was much softer than expected. At 20 psi it just wasn’t happening, and we managed to get stuck. We dropped pressures down to 10 psi and that did the trick, allowing us to drive out and bring the rest of the convoy through.

Unfortunately, just as we arrived, a cloud front rolled in over what had been a clear sky and blocked the sunset we were hoping for. Still, the kids had a blast playing in the sand, we grabbed a few photos and enjoyed the fresh air before heading back.

The wombat hole that caused trouble on the way in was no issue at all on the return trip and the run back to the start was smooth and relaxed.

All up, it was a very nice evening trip with good company, a few laughs and another great drive in the books.

Looking forward to the next one!
