Another clean up for DBCA, this time on the west side of the Avon Valley in Moondyne country. A small concentrated pile of domestic rubbish (including furniture and white goods) had been found by DBCA rangers. We have magnificent bush land areas to the east of Perth and it is disappointing that there are people out there who would drive kilometres into the bush to dump rubbish, rather than pay to dump at any of the refuse disposal sites around Perth. Back in March, an enthusiastic group of club members led by our club President, assisted the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions, with a clean-up at Red Hill. Part of John Forrest National Park, it is close enough to Perth's eastern suburbs to get rubbish dumped by persons too inconsiderate of the environment to take waste to nearby refuse facilities. As a conservation area, Red Hill as part of John Forrest National Park is usually off limits to 4WD's. As much as we are all saddened by the closures of such awesome 4WDing locations, it is also very easy to acknowledge why DBCA does gate off so many areas. The upcoming trip to Breton Bay will be the first time I have towed a trailer behind the Triton off-road; the trailer for this trip simply being my 6x4 box trailer. Some minor modifications were made that included the toughest LT tyre I could get for its 14 inch rims, and a Tregg hitch.
