A return to Julimar has been long awaited. This time to say we had a biblical amount of rain would be an understatement.
This also being the first try of my new 101FC Land Rover off road. The crew met up at the BP Muchea for a warm brew and snacks before the briefing which we had inside due to the rain.
After a rundown of the day, we set off to see what delights we could find. I wanted to try as many new tracks (To me anyway) as possible.
On arrival at the Western boundary Road some of us aired down, I didn’t bother as I did not have a compressor with me. A decision I soon regretted.

We set off and headed towards the first obstacle which was a long puddle. It turned out to be quite deep, but the bottom was nice and hard. A trend which was the norm for most of the puddles.
It was about now I noticed a large pool of coolant on the heater box and the temp gauge going up. It turns out there was a hole in the heater core pipe.
At the bottom of a hill there was a bit of a playground to the right with a couple of steep gullies to play in.
After a short while heading north we turned right onto Creek Road, aptly named as it has a nice creek crossing.

With the amount of rain we were having I was not sure it would be passable. On arrival we found a fairly deep crossing straight ahead but thankfully there was a chicken track to the right which looked to be passable. A quick check with a stick and the decision was made to give it a go.
Thankfully the 101 has a rather large wading depth and tall stance so the puddles was no trouble for her. After everyone had made it through, we continued east for a bit.
As you can imagine there were what seemed like an endless number of puddles to go through. We came across another long deep puddle where we did the stick test and decided to give it a go. It looked worse than it actually was.
The rain continued to fall for most of the day except for a brief respite when we had lunch.

Once we had our break, we decided to head towards Dummy spit hill and the other one’s to the north, (I cannot recall it having a name) where a couple of brave souls headed down to the bottom and then came back up.
We then headed back the way we came towards Heine Road where we headed south towards Julimar Road. Along the way we encountered a few more puddles and a steep muddy, rutted out section of road and as you guessed it, we all had to give it a go.

Some of us were fortunate enough to slide into the bank on the right-hand side. Luckily there was no damage to any vehicles.
As we made our way to the airing up location Sean, Wayne (Patrol) and I decided to give one more creek crossing a go. This is where Sean tried to cross a few years ago without engaging 4WD. You can guess the rest.
We all re-grouped and pumped up the tyres before a quick de-brief and then heading off home.
Well to say there was a bit of rain would be an understatement, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of all who attended.
Thanks to everyone who came along and braved the conditions it was a brilliant day and a good test for the 101 on its and my abilities.
Cheers All Trackers.
