I'd always wanted to do the Dwellingup Fenceline, so a reccie was organised to go check it out. The club has been before, about 12 months ago. Although it had only been 12 months, we weren't sure what condition the track would be in after the wettest winter in 30 years.

After the usual meet up, coffee and debrief in Dwellingup, it was off to Scarp Road to air down.

The first challenge was, as usual, steeper than it looks and involved crossing ruts 3/4 of the way down. Not too difficult, but care required.

There some very nice views west over the escarpment. You can see the Harvey Estuary.

The track in this condition isn't overly difficult. Until you get to the last hill.

Photos don't do it justice, blah blah (no, really, they don't).

The three IFS vehicles did very well, needing a 10 metre winch up a big jump up with a rock jutting out just waiting to destroy something. Wayne drove straight up in the GU, picking an excellent line.

The most challenging hill I've attempted so far!

After all the winching, we stopped for a very late lunch, enjoyed the scenery and then made the short distance back up to Scarp Road. Had a look at Scarp Pool, then headed back to air up and make the drive home.

We'll be back early next year to run this as a proper club trip. Thanks to Wayne, Colin and Sean for a great day of 4wding, chin wagging and making my first trip as trip leader a very enjoyable experience.

Al

On Thursday the 30th, Roger Don and Jane went for a wander to see what they could find for the night time trip on the 2nd Feb'. What they discovered looks like fun!
